ABSTRACT

Objective · To explore the association between cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) protein level and peripheral nerve demyelination in patients with Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS). Methods · Clinical and biochemical data of 86 patients with GBS were retrospectively analyzed. According to electromyograms examination of peripheral nerve, GBS patients were divided into group with demyelination and group with axonal degeneration, and their clinical and biochemical characteristics were compared between the two groups. The correlation between CSF protein level and peripheral nerve demyelination was assessed by Spearman's correlation analysis. Results · Between the group with demyelination and group with axonal degeneration, there was no significant difference in gender, age, Hughes score, respiratory infection, gastrointestinal infection, erythra, ganglioside sodium injection and immunoglobulin G (IgG) index (P>0.05). Significant higher level of CSF protein, CSF albumin/serum albumin, IgG, and 24 h IgG intrathecal synthesis rate were detected in group with demyelination than that of in group with axonal degeneration (P<0.01). CSF protein level was positively correlated with peripheral nerve demyelination (r=0.345, P=0.001). Conclusion · The incidence of peripheral nerve demyelination increased accompanied with CSF protein level, and analysis of CSF protein level may be helpful in investigating the immunologic mechanism of peripheral nerve demyelination in GBS patients.

ABSTRACT

Objective To set up a convenient and rapid quantitative method for curcumin and its carrier drugs by ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometry. Methods Alkali-soluble method was used to determine the content of curcumin in its drug carriers. A certain amount of drug carriers containing curcumin was dissolved in 10 g/L sodium hydroxide solution and measured at maximum adsorption wavelength of 470 nm. The encapsulation ratio of drug carriers was determined according to the result of measurement using a calibration curve as a reference. Results The concentration (x) and absorbance (y) had a good linear correlation in the range of 8.0-15.0 mg/L. The regression equation was as follows: y=0.139x+0.009,r2=0.999 (n=7). The deviation was less than 0.4 mg/L within an hour. Conclusion This method is simple, rapid and accurate, with no pollution to the environment, which can be used for the entrapment efficiency and quality standards of curcumin nanoparticles.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the application value of CT venography(CTV) in the diagnosis and treatment of Budd‐Chiari syndrome(BCS) .Methods 58 patients with BBCS in our hospital from January 2012 to January 2014 were performed the CTV examination .The inferior vena cava ,hepatic vein ,portal vein and collateral vessels were performed the reconstruction analysis . Results All the patients were definitely diagnosed as BCS after completing CTV examination ,including :19 cases of inferior vena cava(IVC) diaphragm type ,15 cases of short IVC segment occlusion ,8 cases of long IVC segment occlusion ,9 cases of hepatic vein stenosis or occlusion ,7 cases complicated by fresh thrombosis .In addition ,the different degrees of compensatory expansion of col‐lateral vesse ,intuition and comprehensiveness ,can display the position ,character and length of lesion vessel ,also observes the de‐grees of collateral vessels expansion and liver cirrhosis .

ABSTRACT

The combination effect of high hydrostatic pressure and moderate heat on the inactivation kinetics of Bacillus coagulans spore in phosphate buffer and UHT(Ultra High Temperature)whole milk was investigated. The pressure come-up time and corresponding log-reduction of spore inactivation were considered during pressure-thermal treatment.Bacillus coagulans spore had a much higher resistance to pressure in UHT whole milk than in phosphate buffer.Survival data were modeled using the linear,Weibull and log-logistic models to obtain relevant kinetic parameters. The tailing phenomenon occurred in all survival curves, indicating the linear model was not adequate for describing these curves. The log-logistic model produced best fits to survival curves, following by Weibull model.
